Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the Reds are currently in talks about the date of the match against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.
Liverpool will be in Qatar for the Club World Cup, during which the English Carabao Cup quarter-finals are scheduled
Klopp told the reporter at the Aston Villa Pre-game conference :
"I have two games in the same week with two different teams? I don't know when our match against Aston Villa will be played in the League Cup"
“We discussed it already obviously – we have to because there is not too much time to make that decision, but there is no final decision yet”.
" If we would play while we are in Qatar that would be two different teams, but we cannot leave any players at home for the Carabao Cup. We have two games there in a very busy period, it’s not that we can go there with 11 players and say these 11 guys play the two games in Qatar and the other guys play at home in England against Aston Villa. It doesn’t work like this……So we have to make a decision and we will make the decision, but not yet.”
Klopp also highlighted that the players have two weeks rest in a game that requires great physical effort, and called leagues officials to move and talk about it thinking about the players and not money
And about the injuries update he answered
"I don't know if Naby will be ready or not, we will see his condition, and Joel will continue his absence from the team in the next few weeks."
Guardiola announced his solidarity with Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp on his demand to change the date of the Reds game against Aston Villa, because of its conflict with the World Cup Games
Klopp called it "nonsense", and Guardiola supported him, as he will also be required to play two games in less than two days, against Wolves and Sheffield United before the end of the year.
"I totally agree with what Klopp said," Pepe said. "We will also play on 27th and 29th December, which is a frequent occurrence, and at UEFA meetings they always talk about it."
